Arthur M. Oden (1926-2011)

It saddens me beyond words to report on the passing this morning of my father, Arthur Oden.  He was a WWII veteran, a retired firefighter, a stone mason, and an inveterate tinkerer.  He died of complications from dementia.  Dad lived a good, long life; he will be sorely missed but he has gone on to a better place, of this I'm certain.

The pic is from mine and Shannon's wedding.  He had not a clue what was going on, but he was always happy to sit with people and talk.

Godspeed, Dad.

This saddens me to hear, especially given that my own father suffers from a similar condition. You and your dad will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Very sorry about your Dad. My own father passed away almost 6 years ago and I can attest that as time goes by it gets better. Just the other day at Sunday dinner my Mom brought up something funny that Dad had perpetrated back when they were dating and soon the entire family was chuckling and reminiscing. So it does get better. By the way I just got done reading the "Lion..." and enjoyed it greatly. Looking forward to eventually reading the followup. Randy
