MILWAUKEE - Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.
Sad news indeed. My fondest memories encompass playing the original D&D with my friends from Friday to Sunday night, virtually nonstop. I believe we actually played at lunch during school too. No crazies in the group like one read about in those days. I think it inspired us to be more creative overall in our future endeavors and careers.
I was thinking about this and trying to recall the details. Do you remember some controversy back then that Gary 'stole' (not my word) the idea and ran with it? I recall it didn't matter to us either way, we had the game in hand. I don't recall, however, if it was ever disputed or how, or if, it all played out.
By the way. First chapter of Memnon......brilliant. You definately have a gift.
